5-page website price in South Africa: what you pay, and what it should include

Our own price for a five-page business website, what that price should include from any supplier, and what the site costs to run once it is live.

A fair 5-page website price in South Africa depends less on the five pages than on what comes with them: the design, the words, the set-up for Google, speed and security, and who looks after the site once it is live. We publish our own price. A five-page business website is our Business package, R15,000 incl. VAT, which covers up to eight pages. Below: what that price buys, what any quote for five pages should cover, what is extra, and what the site costs to run.

How much is a 5-page website?

At Fyre, a five-page business website costs R15,000 incl. VAT. That is our Business package, which covers up to eight pages with a custom design, forms, set-up for Google, speed and security configured, two rounds of changes and 30 days of support after launch. We can write the words too, at R975 a page incl. VAT.

In the Business package, five pages or eight cost the same, because most of the work is not in the page count. Payment is 50/50, and a Business site typically takes two weeks. In the first year, if you supply the words and choose the basic care plan, our part comes to R26,700 incl. VAT: R15,000 for the build and 12 months at R975. Our full price list covers hosting, the care plans and the larger packages, and our guide to what a website costs in South Africa covers every other kind of site.

Which five pages does a business website need?

A sensible five for most service businesses is Home, About, Services, Work and Contact. Together they tell a visitor what you do, who is behind it, what each service involves, what you have done before, and how to reach you. Settle them before you ask for quotes, so every supplier prices the same site.

  • Home: what you do, for whom and where, in the first screen, with one clear next step.
  • About: who runs the business, and since when.
  • Services: each service described plainly, in the words your customers use when they search.
  • Work: photographs, projects and named clients, as proof you can point to.
  • Contact: a short enquiry form, your phone number, the area you serve and your hours.

If one service brings in most of your work, it may deserve a page of its own. The Business package covers up to eight pages, so three more pages fit in the same price: a page for that service, say, or a page of frequently asked questions.

What should a 5-page website include?

A 5-page website should include a design that suits your business and works on a phone, forms that reach you, and set-up for Google: page titles and descriptions, Search Console, Analytics and your Business Profile. It should also have speed and security configured, a secure connection, rounds of changes before launch, and support after it.

“Five pages” describes the size of a site, not the work in it, which is why quotes for the same five pages can be far apart. A ready-made template can be a sensible start for a business testing an idea; a business that has to win work with its site for years is better served by a design made for it. Either way, check each line below in every quote you get. The last column is what our Business package includes.

What to check in a quote for a five-page website

Three things to know as you compare. First, three of the Google items cost nothing: a Business Profile, Search Console and Google Analytics are all free from Google, as at 2 October 2026. What you pay a supplier for is setting them up properly.

Second, ask to see the design on a phone before you approve it. Google uses the mobile version of a site’s content for indexing and ranking, according to its guide to mobile-first indexing. In other words, the phone version is the one Google reads.

Third, check whether the price includes VAT. The standard rate is 15%, according to SARS (as at 2 October 2026). If a VAT-registered supplier’s price leaves it out, add 15% before you compare. Our prices include it.

We go through the lowest quotes line by line in website design packages compared.

What costs extra on a 5-page website?

Features beyond a brochure site, the content that fills it, and ongoing work. Our Business package leaves out online stores, bookings, memberships, online courses, custom plugin work and connections to other software; copywriting and photography; and ongoing SEO. Each is a separate job with its own price, so check where any quote draws its line.

If your five pages also need to sell online, take bookings, run a member area or host courses, that is our Professional package: from R25,000 incl. VAT, with one of those features built in, up to 20 pages, three rounds of changes and 60 days of support.

Decide early who writes the words, because the site cannot launch without them. Ongoing SEO, the month-by-month work of moving up Google’s results, is a separate SEO service.

What does a 5-page website cost to run?

A domain name, hosting, and ideally someone to look after the site. We charge R450 a month incl. VAT for hosting. Our basic care plan, R975 a month incl. VAT, includes the hosting, updates with a backup before each one, Wordfence monitoring, uptime alerts and a monthly health email. Neither covers content changes.

Ask, too, who registers your domain name and what it costs to renew. We register and renew domains, including .co.za, .co.zw and most other extensions, and quote domain prices per request. We set out every running cost in the running costs nobody quotes, and the care plans are on our website maintenance page.

Who should build your 5-page website?

Someone who will still look after it in five years. A website needs updates and fixes for as long as it runs, and in time a rebuild, so the lowest quote can cost the most if its builder moves on. Ask each supplier who will host and maintain the site, and to see sites they still look after.

We have been building websites since 2001, and the proof is in who stayed. Tin Soldier has been a client since 2005; we most recently rebuilt its site in April 2025, and we still host it. Something Fab, formerly ABFAB Online, has been with us since 2005 too; we rebuilt its site in 2025, and we host it as well. Neither had to find a new supplier to get a new site. More clients like them are on our work page.

If you are weighing a do-it-yourself builder instead, we compare the costs in what a Wix website really costs over three years.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website cost in SA?

It depends on what the site has to do. A business site of a few pages costs least; an online store, bookings, memberships or a custom system costs more. With us, the Business package is R15,000 incl. VAT for up to eight pages, and Professional, which adds one of a store, bookings, memberships or a learning platform, starts at R25,000 incl. VAT. Our guide to website costs in South Africa covers the rest.

How much should a 1 page website cost?

More than a fifth of a five-page site. Most of the work in a small website is not in the pages: the design, the set-up for Google, speed and security, and the hosting are much the same for one page as for five. In our Business package, one page and five cost the same, because R15,000 incl. VAT covers up to eight pages. Our price list shows every option.

What is the minimum price of a website?

The software can cost nothing: WordPress is open source and free to download. What you pay for is a domain name, hosting, and the time it takes to design, build and set up the site, whether that time is yours or a supplier’s. That work is where prices differ, so decide what the site must do for your business, then compare quotes that include the same things.
